What the Once Coupled team produced in 2023

Once Coupled has focused on creating custom themes for food bloggers for over a decade now. In 2023, we did just that… plus a few extra projects to help support the food blogging community!

Custom Themes Launched in 2023

Below are a few of our custom themes, built with exactly what our clients have in mind, that launched in 2023.

We also have a few themes that we will be launching in Q1 of 2024 that we developed in 2023.

We also developed & launched Creator Theme!

This is a base theme we’ve built, which officially launched on January 1st, 2024. All theme customizations we work on in 2024 will be using Creator Theme. Below are the blogs currently running Creator Theme that we used to develop the base theme.

Creator theme focuses on user-centric customizations, ad optimization, and all of the functionality bloggers need to build a successful blog using an out-of-the-box base theme for only $249.

We transitioned custom code requests into accessible plugins using our sister brand, Small Plugins.

We’ve spent over a decade and countless hours showing up for every one of our client’s custom code requests using our retainer program. This year, we finally decided to offer custom code to everyone using Small Plugins!

As of today, we’ve launched 7 plugins with this sister brand, and we have a few other ideas in-the-works.

We served our clients on an hourly basis in 2023!

For over a decade, we’ve offered a retainer program where our team works on custom development, tweaks, and changes to continue supporting the custom code in our custom themes.

In 2023 we spent almost 400 hours working on retainer tasks for clients, not including the time spent translating those requests into concepts available to other food bloggers using Small Plugins & Creator Theme.

In Q3 of 2023 we also launched our content services, where we make changes for clients on an hourly basis. Danika has poured her heart & soul into that concept. She’s completed around 320 hours of focused content work thus far. It’s really exciting to see how clients are positively impacted by this role!

A timeline of industry shifts…

• We kick-started 2023 with major WordPress, Gutenberg, & plug-in changes.
• Then, we were all hit by Google’s helpful content update.
• Around that time, Lauren & I went to a conference with Mediavine, to prepare for upcoming cookie changes (happening now-ish, Jan. ’24).
• That’s roughly when Q4 kick-started, which is when we work really hard and just hang tight: IYKYK.
