Pssst. Want us to customize your theme for half the price?
I am obsessed with the new “Save This” feature from Hubbub and I absolutely insist everyone go purchase that plugin right now–WITH ONE CAVEAT. I’m going to need you to also purchase a secondary plugin from Small Plugins.
Implementing a ‘save this’ block is just two easy steps:
- Hubbub adds a form and sends an email.
- Form Tags for Recipes includes relevant recipe details.
- (optional) Automatic Block Inserter customizes placement.
It’s never been easier to provide VALUE to your readers
To everyone emailing a link to your post… I still think you’re fundamentally undermining your own authority and trust with readers.
So I’ve made it my mission to empower you and rebuild trust.
I asked my team to make a plugin that allows you to include recipe details inside these email notifications.
And, of course, they delivered. That’s what “Form Tags for Recipes” does: it’s a plug-and-play plugin that creates a tiny piece of code you can add to email notifications in order to include relevant–but limited–recipe details.
Pair that with Hubbub and the job is so comically easy that you’ll wonder why you ever wasted time with more complicated setups.
These two plugins are worth every penny together
We’ve seen exactly how successful this ‘save’ form is. Readers are clearly interested in trying out this tool.
Although, I have to point out how absolutely WILD that is. I mean, we’ve had an email share button on the post for years and years. It’s the exact same thing!
Well, except one thing. Instead of saying “share this post via email” we’re saying “save this recipe via email”.
Um.
They’re probably expecting a recipe.
Good news. With these two plugins, you get the best of both worlds.
- Expand your email list
- Build trust with your community
Two birds, just two stones. (That’s how the phrase goes… right?)
It’s absolutely necessary that not only do you implement this, but you encourage your friends to, too.
We don’t want another public outcry against food bloggers, do we? (“If I read one more story in a recipe post…”)
Let’s give the people what they want: email them the darn recipe! (And if you’re still on the fence go back to this article where I explain in more detail how this helps vs hurts.)
Full 3-minute tutorial on using Hubbub with Form Tags for Recipes
When combined with Hubbub, we can finally skip all the complicated tutorials on how to DIY this. Watch how easy this is:
Step 1: install Hubbub and enable Save This feature
You’ll need the Pro+ license (an extra $80/yr) for this feature, but it’s definitely worth it.
Step 2: install Form Tags for Recipes and add this line
To send the recipe, use Form Tags for Recipes. This can be purchased individually for only $49/yr (or you can get access to all 2-dozen of the current plugins with a membership).
With that installed, copy and paste this 8-character line into your email message or bottom content.
{recipe}
You can, alternatively, use the following:
{recipe_ingredients}
{recipe_instructions}
You’re done. Seriously.
That’s it. It works. I mean, you can customize settings and colors and what-not. If you want. Or you can go take a nap while the emails roll in. Or maybe you’re a pizza kinda person and you’re gonna go snack. You do you!
Or add a step 3: move the form to directly above the recipe card
One of our personal-favorite plugins lets you insert content in the same spot across all of your posts. And it’s smart enough to know when you’re using group blocks (where inserting the content might mess up the group layout).
It really doesn’t get any easier. We’re so relieved that tools like this are being made specifically for bloggers. We all benefit when we lift each other up!
Raise your hand if you’re implementing this ASAP! 🙋♀️
