Any changes made to a parent theme will be lost when the theme updates. To prevent this, we can use a child theme. Child themes inherit the functionality of the parent theme while allowing changes and overwrites. In most cases, switching to a child theme is a completely seamless process. However, depending on how your theme is coded, settings could be lost. Please make sure you have a backup of your site and/or theme settings.
