Use video formats for animated content

An “animated GIF” is an image that contains multiple frames, or images, that convey animation. So animated GIFs can be very large in file size resulting in slow load times and more data usage.

We don’t see this warning very often, but when we do, it is typically ad-related.

Recommendations

  • Avoid the use of animated GIFs, if possible.

How to resolve warnings

  • Convert animated GIFs to video, MPEG4 or WebM, or remove animated GIFs, if possible.
