Let’s Go Somewhere Girlfriend

Tammy needed a blog-magazine combo site geared toward women, where she could post travel information and accept submissions for girlfriend trips that members of her community had taken. She wasn’t ready to launch her site immediately, but it was important to her that it be ready for launch when she needed it.

Magazine Layout

Let’s Go Somewhere Girlfriend has a magazine-style front page, showcasing a few of the most popular posts for the day, a slider of the featured posts, and a couple recent posts. Since this is a highly interactive community Tammy is building, her contributors’ posts will be frequently featured, as well. Her sidebar makes her content easily discover-able by helping users find exactly what they’re looking for.

Submissions

Tammy’s site isn’t just a for travel information though, it’s a place to connect with other travelers and share your own experiences. Tammy wanted anyone to be able to share their trip, not just selected contributors. We made this possible by adding a front-end post editor where any person in Tammy’s community can contribute to the site. When submitted, all Tammy has to do is schedule the post to be officially published, under the username “Guest.”

Content Structuring

All of the content on Let’s Go Somewhere Girlfriend is structured using the built in category support. There are four main sections: location, transportation, season, and activities. Each main category will hold a number of more specific categories, so that a visitor may easily sort through posts in order to find the most relevant travel information to them.
