Christina came to Once Coupled needing a transfer from Blogger to WordPress, along with a whole new brand to go with it. She knew she wanted to use her daughter’s artwork on her site, and had a keen eye for how to organize her content.
Blogger to WordPress Transfer
The prompt that sparked Christina’s Cucina’s face-lift was a change in management – content management systems, that is. Christina wanted to feel confident that her site would be transferred to WordPress without loss of content, SEO rankings, or readers. This process can be very delicate, but at any time Christina was able to reach out to Once Coupled and ask questions regarding anything she felt curious about.
Widgetized Home Page + Engaging Footer
Christina’s site is highly customizable – she can add anything to her home page by inserting a widget using her Dashboard. At the bottom of every page is yet another widget area, which allows her to display six large images showcasing her latest posts. These are intended to engage users who have reached the end of the content and encourage them to continue browsing her site.
Browse-able Archives
Using large images and tantalizing excerpts, Christina’s archive pages allow readers to easily skim through her content and find articles that look relevant and interesting to them.
Highly Visual Recipe Index
Christina’s recipe index is 90% pictures, making her readers’ mouths water before they can even get to the bottom of the page! Recipes are sorted from newest to oldest, so return visitors can catch up at a glance.
Alphabetized Category Listings
Not everything is just about pretty pictures though! Using a well-devised category structure, Christina’s menu allows her readers to choose what type of recipe they are looking for, and browse through the results alphabetically.
Clean Design
Among all of these pages, you’ll notice that Christina’s site looks very clean. This is accomplished through a readable font size, sufficient spacing between site elements, and the creation of a subtle aesthetic. Christina’s site uses a delicate background image paired with a moderate use of lilac and shadows.
